The transmission grid transports energy at a voltage of 380 and 220 kilovolts and comprises 6,700 kilometres of lines, 12,000 pylons, 125 substations with 147 switchgears and 41 connections abroad.
Swissgrid works around the clock to ensure that the grid is stable and secure at all times. The two grid control centres in Prilly and Aarau play a central role in this. The operators at the grid control centres monitor the Swiss transmission grid and ensure that electricity is transported reliably and is therefore available at all times. Since the grid control centre in Aarau moved in, Svenstol 24-hour chairs have been in use there.
